carnaval's history
The carnival comes from the fusion between ancient pagan festivals and the Catholic tradition. It is an event where the party and the fun comes first, before entering the austere time of Lenten penance. During Carnival, people dress up in an act of fun and uninhibited. The traditional costumes of the Carnival of Barranquilla marimonda, scribbles, Congo, the bull and monocuco, the latter of European origin. Are a source of laughter and scares all kinds of animal species, native and foreign, black Africans, big heads, insane; muñecotas, super-heroes, mythological beings, gay and Death, among an almost endless. Features Barranquilla Carnival masks are bull, tiger and bear for, among others. The satirical costumes and alluding to current events are a source of collective hilarity and cause great anticipation each year.
* In 1888 he created the figure of King Momo, male counterpart of the Queen of Carnival.
* In 1899 he created the office of President of the Carnival and Organizing Board.
* In 1903 he organized the first Battle of Flowers, to celebrate the end of the War of the Thousand Days.
* In 1918 is chosen for the first time the queen to preside over the festivities of Carnival, being chosen Alicia Lafaurie Roncallo.
* From 1923 he was institutionalized during the reigns, which had been suspended for five years. It is named Tona Vengoechea Vives.
* In 1967 he entered the carnival the parade, parade of folk dances (without floats) that takes place the second day of carnival.
* In 1969 he created the Festival Orchestra, musical competence and gender that is disputed between the different singers and orchestras performed at the Carnival. Winners in each category receive the coveted Golden Congo
* Since 1974, Forero Esthercita initiative is carried out Guacherna, an event that would rescue a lost tradition, the parades, cumbia and drums that night cheered the city's neighborhoods.
* In 2001, the Carnival of Barranquilla receive the recognition of "National Cultural Heritage" by the National Congress of Colombia.
* In 2003 he was declared by UNESCO "Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity."

Que no se equivoquen mas algunos avenidos historiadores de ultima hora, tratando, por alguna oscura sinrazon, de auscultar la historia de Barranquilla, a la que mi familia bastante que ha aportadeo su grano de arena, y que al sol de hoy, se les denomina patriarcas. Bien que le deberia hacer u busto como se lo hicieron a Esthercita Forero, con mucho menos meritos. Como igual a mi Tio-Abuelo Joaquin Ramon, en el arco de entrada a la ciudad en el norte que van a hacer, como justo reconocimiento, quizas, al gobernante que mas progreso le insuflo no solo a Barranquilla sino tambien al Atlantico y al pais en general.
